I would say I care more about other causes, and also it’s not like I was somehow an Azure customer anyways. You gotta pick like 2 or 3 causes to spend your energy on or you’ll just be in a bad mood all the time

Trump accidentally inventing cassette futurism because America becomes too poor to afford anything built past 1999
Man do I hate discord though
I use it as a form of google, basically. I ask it coding questions a lot, some of which are a bit more philosophical. I never allow it to write code for me, though. Sometimes I’ll have it check my work
In what way? Who would disturb me?
Better yet just start earlier in the day. I don’t enjoy staying up past 10 anymore
When I was 16 I could get 4 or 5 people to come over to my house on a week night with almost zero advanced notice. I am now 30 and
I don’t know 4 or 5 people
It would take 3-4 weeks to get everyone’s schedule to line up
Half of everyone would cancel because they didn’t feel like going out
My company told us we need to get prior approval before using AI tools at our company
So we’re only allowed to agree with things now?
I’m not giving up, I’m just going to focus on the issues that are personally important to me
I could probably find a thousand things you spend your money on that hurt people in some way, but I’m not going to hold you to that insane standard because I don’t believe in ideological purity tests
Call it caring fatigue. There are causes that I care about and that I spend my time and energy on. But over the course of 2020-2025, every little thing-of-the-week issue that popped up demanded that I stop buying socks at target, or burritos at chipotle, canned beans or pens or video games or cloud services or t-shirts or shoes or plastic cups or what have you. I just don’t have it in me to pretend to care about everything that everybody else cares about all the time. I’m picking my 2-3 things and sticking with them
I’m kind of done with my boycott era
I think if they were using windows they’d be far more computer literate, but they’re just using iPad and chromebooks
No it’s just that Zoomers only use touchscreen, which are vastly simplified devices compared to a desktop computer
I’m also a software engineer and I can’t stand most other people in this field. I got into this field because I love computers and was tweaking garry’s mod scripts when I was 12. I read scifi books and enjoy reading about the lore of the tech industry.
I would estimate that AT LEAST 75% of people in this industry are ladder climbing yuppies who got into it for the money. The gym rat, tesla-driving podcaster types who have invented their own language about syncing up, achieving alignment, creating action items and eating dog food. And for some reason they’re all into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Lex Fridman/Joe Rogan
I do not socialize with my coworkers because they are the most obnoxious fucking money-obsessed pieces of shit I’ve ever met
It’s called recall or something. If you are trying to find something you saw before but can’t remember, it remembers for you.
