AI is far more than LLMs. Why does everyone on lemmy think AI is nothing but?!

The government will still have to pay to use Excel. Too much shit will break, you can’t just flip an .xlxs into another program.
*in America
So Heavy Metal rates U?
really fast
Yeah, he’s behind it, but he’s touching it. That fish is 4X the size of my pet pig, and he’s seriously dense.
Me at 5AM: Fuck did he do all night without customers?! That shit still here from 2 days ago?! Motherfucker works 9PM-5AM, still doesn’t do shit.
Bingo. Lots of stupid things at this level boil down to legal protection. You’ll see it everywhere once you learn and look.
I got an AC powered unit off Amazon a couple of years ago. How can I tell if it’s fake? Jewelry comes out bangin’, but I’ve wondered it if should work even better.
Wife got this stuff last week and it seemed to make a dramatic difference.
OTOH, I can’t see this thing having a legit transducer. Anyway to tell without tearing it down? Guess that’s easy enough if I really care.
Should I try something rusty? Should a “real” one work for that? Also, it gets the water pretty hot. Is that an indicator?
I do much the same in my head.
Know what’s crazy? We sling bags of mulch, dirt and rocks onto customer vehicles every day. No one, neither coworkers nor customers, will do simple multiplication. Only the most advanced workers do it. No lie.
Customer wants 30 bags of mulch. I look at the given space:
“Let’s do 6 stacks of 5.”
Everyone proceeds to sling shit around in random piles and count as we go. And then someone loses track and has to shift shit around to check the count.
I consider The Register to be the gold standard in tech journalism. When asked how I keep up with evolving tech, I told the interview panel that any tech news they see on mainstream media was likely broken by The Register 3 days previous, with original sources and quotes from top corporate officers.
Also told them I had followed several tech subs on reddit in the past, but as the site has devolved into bots talking to one another, I’ve turned to lemmy for tech community interaction and advice.
(No, I’m not using lemmy for that so much, but if I land the network admin job I will!)
Calculators crippled our ability to do simple math in our heads. I’ve had to work for years to get off that reliance.
Our Current Affairs teacher pulled this move, spring of '89 for context:
Paper boy drops off a stack of the afternoon edition, teacher picks one up and seriously peruses it for a minute.
Reading from the paper: “Please pay attention. ‘President George Bush has announced that an offensive action has begin against Iraq. US Air Force tactical bombers led the assault on Baghdad at 4AM this morning while grounds troops have taken positions on the outskirts.’” And so forth. “Discuss.”
We excitedly kicked this around for 20 minutes. First time GenX was at war! He then showed us the headline: Local Man Wins Regional Bike Race.
“Every one of you believed what I said because you thought it was written in the newspaper.” Stunned silence. “Discuss.”
He was county or state teacher of the year for '88 and promised an automatic A to anyone who could make him smile, even once. We had no clue if he was a Democrat or Republican, no clue as to his opinion on anything.
And just look around lemmy. Hundreds of upvotes because people thought Vance made a serious comment about Greenland being cold. (It was an obvious joke to the troops if one had taken a moment and thought, “Surely fucking not.” and watched 25-seconds of video.)
I could whip up rack ears but making threaded holes confounds me. Even got a tap and die set, still can’t figure it out.
Nah, I have a NetGate (pfSense) rackmount router/firewall with multiple ports. Isn’t that pretty standard with enterprise gear now days? Only 2-port routers I’ve seen are ones I build from old PCs.
VIC-20, my first real girlfriend.
Can’t help but think that’s an in joke for those guys. Or they found the dumb sign and had to strike a pose, like something I would do.
LOL, give it up. Lemmy is full of kids who have never had a physically challenging job in their fucking life.
“I saw bad things!”
Is no way comparable to:
“I’ve blown out my back and knees, can barely stand up in the morning and can’t make a fist.”
And for those bitching about the first two items, 19 of 20 of them are, and have always been, fat fucks.
Anyways, looks like GenZ is about to get hard as fuck in the next few years when they see what real suffering is.
Been wanting that gif and been too lazy to record it!
