    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sometimes I find things personally interesting, but don’t have the energy or bandwidth to also discuss, but might later

Sometimes I come across something I think others will find interesting, but don’t personally

Sometimes I don’t initially find something I posted personally interesting but the comments catch my attention

Sometimes I come across something I don’t find interesting, but it seems like it would be a niche thing with a niche Lemmy comm that could use some more traffic

Sometimes it’s just a crosspost from a .ml comm to a non-.ml comm to help reduce .ml’s influence and general boycott of them

That must have been like a lifetime ago lmao, there’s only been a few times on modern Reddit pre-API debacle that I was able to actually get a Reddit post to go “viral” on r/all and only like twice that the post also didn’t get removed for something or another when it got there LMAO

  • They are still evil in how they treat Uyghurs, Tibetans and democracy activists. They definitely use torture on dissidents.

Nah, you’re not a tankie if you’re saying that earnestly.

Tankies defend the CCP/Russia no matter what, it’s always they’ve done nothing wrong and if they did, it wasn’t that bad, and if it was that bad, it was just “western propaganda” so it isn’t true.

I’ve seen (and documented) them saying that “they’re just reeducation camps, they’re not that bad and it’s done anyways so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯” and allowing Russian propaganda that their invasion “was just a diplomatic maneuver”

You’re just bringing an argument “I think X is bad, but not worse than Y because Z”

  • We’ve been able to make that for a few years now (I’m still here, so I must have missed the Klingon Bird of Prey train off themis damn planet) but it was expensive

But just last month they figured out how to do it more cheaply so it might be coming… someday

    https://phys.org/news/2025-02-transparent-aluminum-tiny-acid-droplets.html

Current methods of making TAlOx are expensive and complicated, requiring high-powered lasers, vacuum chambers, or large vats of dangerous acids. That may change thanks to research co-authored by Filipino scientists from the Ateneo de Manila University.

Instead of immersing entire sheets of metal into acidic solutions, the researchers applied microdroplets of acidic solution onto small aluminum surfaces and applied an electric current. Just two volts of electricity—barely more than what’s found in a single AA household flashlight battery—was all that was needed to transform the metal into glass-like TAlOx.
