I think what he means is less that we are just as capable to manufacture here and more that he is willing to pay Americans a similar wage to make them. They’ll be just as cheap, but it’ll be Americans making $2 an hour to make them.

It’s all good I just turned 30 and I finally have a job where I can break even with my finances. Now for the second job so I can use the next 30 years to pay off my debt. At this rate I’ll be just ahead enough to get my retirement job with no social security. 😎

If it was marketed and used for what it’s actually good at this wouldn’t be an issue. We shouldn’t be using it to replace artists, writers, musicians, teachers, programmers, and actors. It should be used as a tool to make those people’s jobs easier and achieve better results. I understand its uses and that it’s not a useless technology. The problem is that capitalism and greedy CEOs are ruining the technology by trying to replace everyone but themselves so they can maximize profits.

We got a new kid around 19 working at our office for processing data and I hate how true this is. The amount of times I’ve had to say “No, you have to double click to open folders” is entirely too many. Either that or “You have to actually right click on the icon you want to copy you can’t just click anywhere on the screen.”

I am also curious. Not necessarily the multi window thing, I’m just looking for something else that is at least actively being developed.

Here’s an experiment for you to try at home. Ask an AI model a question, copy a sentence or two of what they give back, and paste it into a search engine. The results may surprise you.

And stop comparing AI to humans but then giving AI models more freedom. If I wrote a paper I’d need to cite my sources. Where the fuck are your sources ChatGPT? Oh right, we’re not allowed to see that but you can take whatever you want from us. Sounds fair.
