The terms are very clear before engaging in the contract. Also IP isn’t the problem here. IP doesn’t make Amazon act shitty. Amazon makes Amazon act shitty.

If there is no IP, the authors won’t be able to sell their books AT ALL. Which is certainly worse than Amazon taking most of their revenue share.
