Apple could make a big change to the way it numbers its operating systems, with a year-based system renaming iOS 19 as iOS 26, and macOS in the same way.
I kinda like this year based versioning. It lets you know how old something is right off the bat. Kind of like Ubuntu, which is where I first encountered the idea. I like that I can tell if something is still going to be supported or how old it is.
It’s funny how orgs go back and forth. Unity went back to Unity 6 after 7 or so years with year based version numbers. They are picking up where they left off after Unity 5.6.
