Many of the countries in question don’t have a military presence that could dwarf the others, nor an army that would willingly fight larger enemies for those morals.

Obviously, I’m not including America in that statement.

You’re correct but there is much that can be done without military intervention. The least these nations could have done is a weapons embargo and sanctions. Many other diplomatic levers that can be used but aren’t.

Don’t be afraid to just take US intellectual property.

It was acquired through exploitative neoliberal and neocolonial policy. “AI” is actually the peak manifestation of this.

Also, China does it (though in some cases consensually) and its gone fairly well for them.

A number of US based companies have willingly given away IP in the past to access the market.

Would be an option. Another really good one would be a reform of the election system. It is insane that Labour got 2/3 of the seats in parliament with only 1/3 of the votes. Even worse with Reform polling at about 1/3 of the votes right now.

That was my belief for quite a while. There’s certainly no shortage of stupidity, but the real problem is that people do understand the evil shit they vote for, and they fucking love it.

Look at the Trump admin: he didn’t trick us into voting for him by giving some ‘on paper’ bs about why the things he does is somehow good; he just got on stage and started shitting on veterans, disabled people, women, immigrants, etc. The majority of voters looked at that and said “YUP! THAT’S MY GUY!!”

We’re (collectively) just fucking evil. Idk if there’s a fix for that.

The thing is, they don’t truly understand the consequences. Otherwise c/leopardsatemyface wouldn’t be a thing.

They believe that they are free from consequence because they keep being told that, and by the odds they’re unlikely to face major direct consequences of their choices. And when they do, often it gets blamed on “the other side” instead of the people they choose to represent them.

It’s not about them being too stupid to understand, or too evil to want better, it’s about an unwillingness to think about the consequences of their actions.

Don’t know if there’s a movie of it.

          From the Wikipedia article:

The battle was a subject in the 1992 French film Dien Bien Phu written and directed by Pierre Schoendoerffer, who had been present at the battle as a war cameramen.

The beginning of the 1966 film Lost Command starring Anthony Quinn showed the battle towards its end. The film was adapted from the French novel Les Centurions written by French journalist and former soldier Jean Lartéguy.

I’ve always believed that all Olympic countries take part in some kind of enhanced performance drug program.

The poor countries try it and they are easily identified and disqualified

The mid tier countries do it cautiously and sometimes get away with it

The rich countries like the US do it all the time but they are so sophisticated that they can’t be caught.

Rich countries have highly developed sports infrastructures that allow better detection of talents and training the talents in the best possible conditions. That is probably already enough to explain the difference in results. No need to look for some drug conspiracy. If your city doesn’t have the money to build a swimming pool, you’ll never have swimming champions from there.

Russia, a powerhouse, had a ridiculously complex scam going and even they were caught.

They aren’t rich in the normal sense, but they are powerful and secretive, so I think they provide a valid counterexample.

Does it go on? I’d believe constantly. Does it get found out? Every time, albeit there’s always a short window of success. Do more powerful nations have more success at cheating? Yeah, since the smaller countries can’t cheat as well.

But not a conspiracy, just correlation, I think.

Parkinson’s disease can be recognized as an occupational disease for people who have used herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides frequently and for many years in a professional context. The fact that Parkinson’s disease is now recognized as an occupational disease means that those affected are entitled to support from the employers’ liability insurance association if the disease developed as a result of their occupational activity.
