I’ve had people I supervise act super annoyed when I talk to them twice in a day for like a minute because of this. You’re not at home. I’m not your mom. I’m just doing my job by efficiently checking in on yours.
For fun, watch an old war movie “The Dirty Dozen.” Besides killing lots of Nazis it’s a great study of how middle management actually works. The Major is given a job even his boss thinks is crazy, and all his troops are criminals and/or psychopaths.

I haven’t watched that in decades, but maybe I will again soon.
I rewatched it not long ago. Thought I would fast forward to the good parts; then I realized the whole thing is ‘good parts.’
