Prison of the Future: Prisoners will be able to implant memories of the victims of their crimes.

Millions of people around the world are in prison.

However, statistics show that imprisonment does not guarantee the prevention of reoffending.

    Very glad you asked!

Rehabilitation centers aiming at helping these people and reintegrating them into society instead of punishing them.

I think we lost the story with our prison system, currently it only punishes and that helps no one IMO.

I do not believe people just wake up and decide to do crime, there are usually systemic problems that leaves them no options. If I am starving I will also steal. So punishing me will do nothing there will be other starving people and they will steal too. Understanding these people and the problems and decisions that led them on this path is vital if society is to exist IMO.

The good thing is that some Nordic countries are with a similar viewpoint so there are some attempts at improving the prison system. Article

The bad thing is that america exists and if you read anything on the American prison system they look horrendous, if you read a bit more you will know it’s just slavery.

Again, the current prison system doesn’t work to reintegrate inmates into society. That is the biggest difference. I would love to hear your views?

my point was from an idealist perspective, “let’s get rid of prisons” sounds great.

but when I read such statements, 99% of the time the concept seems to be the end. and no actual plan or realistic prospect to make that fantasy a reality.

“do away with prisons” is an idea that doesn’t really seem feasable without a real plan.

meanwhile we can make changes to the prison system we have now to make it more habitable. make laws that protect prisoners while incarcerated. decent facilities, decent exercise equipment, easy ways to become educated or further education.

these are things that just take money to fix. and can be done now.

You just renamed prisons to “rehabilitation centers”, you’re advocating prison reform not abolishment. Saying that you want to get rid of prisons will just make people think you’re an idiot.
